As of July 2006 all packaging material made from raw wood must be certified for export. Raw wood material such as pallets, dunnage, crating skids along with other types of solid wood packaging. Packaging material made from plywood, particle board, oriented strand board or veneer that have been created using glue, heat and pressure or any combination of them are considered acceptable as is because that wood has been treated with glue, heat and pressure.
In order for wood packaging material to be certified for export the core of the wood must be heated to a minimum temperature of 56 degrees Celsius (132.8 F) for a minimum of 30 minutes. An original certificate is given to the customer upon delivery and we keep a copy along with the proof of delivery as a backup.
Superior Pallets has partnered with Integrated Thermal Systems to provide heat treating services. We typically heat treat 500 pallets at a time, depending on size, but can treat any quantity above 50 pallets.
Timber Products Inspection provides third party inspection, certification, and IPPC news updates so that we are current with the constantly changing regulations.
